Culture Day at MPS

Culture Day: A Global Culinary Experience

Today, the school hosted its much-anticipated Culture Day, organised by the Head Student team. The event was a delicious celebration of global cuisine, offering students, staff, and teachers the chance to taste traditional dishes from around the world.

At lunchtime, the Activity Studio was filled with a variety of dishes representing different cultures, each carefully prepared and served by the students. The menu included samosas, brigadeiro, paella, paneer cheese, and adobo.

Samosa: A South Asian Favourite

The samosa, a crispy pastry filled with spiced potatoes and peas, was a popular choice. Originating from the Indian subcontinent, it’s a beloved street food across many countries and proved to be a hit with its blend of savoury flavours and crunch.

Brigadeiro: Sweet Brazilian Delight

Next was brigadeiro, a classic Brazilian treat made from condensed milk and cocoa powder, rolled in chocolate sprinkles. This sweet, melt-in-your-mouth dessert was a favourite, adding a rich, sugary note to the event.

Paella: Spanish Comfort

The savoury paella offered a taste of Spain, with vibrant rice and vegetables. Known for its bold flavours, paella brought a comforting warmth to the spread, allowing students to experience a piece of Spanish culinary tradition.

Paneer Cheese: A Taste of India

Paneer cheese, a soft, fresh cheese often used in Indian dishes, was another highlight. It was seasoned with spices, offering a mild, creamy flavour that introduced many students to a key ingredient in Indian cuisine.

Adobo: Filipino Home Cooking

The Filipino dish adobo, made from marinated chicken in soy sauce and vinegar, added a savoury, tangy note to the meal. This dish, often considered the national food of the Philippines, gave attendees a taste of Filipino home cooking.

The event was a great success, with a large turnout of students and staff eager to taste the diverse dishes. The Head Students’ efforts were praised, and the event provided a fantastic opportunity to learn about and appreciate the cultures behind these global foods. It was a memorable day that brought the school community together through the shared joy of food.
