Curriculum Intent

Our whole school curriculum intent is linked to our school values and sets out the core principles of our curriculum.

MPS Curriculum Intent

Merstham Park is a student-centred school, one that promotes family identity and values. Our aim at all times is to develop quality partnerships with families, effective learning for our students and success for all members of our community. To achieve this and more, we work in collaboration both with GLF Schools and with other schools and academies.

Learning is central to our ability to function in tomorrow’s world. Our students will be equipped with the tenacity to pursue their dreams and ambitions to become successful citizens of the future. Bringing the real world to life through practical exploration and a project-based curriculum is a priority for student learning at Merstham Park. We welcome parents to be true partners in their children’s education, working with us to enable all students to achieve beyond their expectations.

English, Maths, Science, French, Physical Education, The Arts and Computing are taught through traditional subject-based delivery. Integrated Teaching Projects  (ITP) are used to deliver topic-based enquiry; this places value on learning underpinned by values and core principles, enabling students to lead a productive and purposeful life – becoming well-rounded citizens of the future. ITP allows teachers to build deep professional relationships with the students in their care, alongside establishing a firm foundation for family partnership with school. The active involvement of the family unit enables students to develop with the support of home and school.

Each of our subject areas have shaped and developed their subject specific curriculum intent using the school values and whole school curriculum intent as their starting point. Details of each subjects curriculum intent can be seen below:
