Homework
The purpose of homework
All homework has a specific purpose and is directly related to students’ learning in lessons and the way in which those lessons fit into the larger topic. The following is a guide for staff and students to clarify the purpose of homework.

Homework frequency increases as students progress through the school. This is to assist students with their transition to secondary school, and to give them time to engage in the many extracurricular activities that we offer. Prior to assessments students may be required to complete revision homework for all their subjects.

Setting of homework
All homework is set by the teacher using our communication system, ClassCharts.
The homework should always specify:
- How to complete it
- Where to complete it; whether that be in students’ books or an online resource
- Where the information can be found, if on Google Classroom or another method unique to that subject area.
There should always be at least two evenings from when the homework is set and its due date, to allow students sufficient time to complete it.
To ensure Homework is completed to a high standard, students should:
- check they have understood the task and made a note of the due date
- complete homework to the best of their ability
- extend their interests by reading widely around the topics
- attend Study Space if they need more support. Study Space is available everyday in the LRC before school from 8.00 - 8.30 and after school from 3.15 - 4.15. Computers are available to use for online tasks and all students are welcome to attend
