Merstham Park Celebrates First Exam Results
There were celebrations all round when our Year 11 students received their exam results - the first ever for Merstham Park.
Our school, which opened its doors in September 2018, saw its first GCSE cohort achieve some impressive results, with 53% of students attaining a grade 9 to 4 in English and Maths, and 38% receiving a grade 9 to 5 in those subjects.
The top-performing student at the school, which is a member of the GLF Schools Multi-Academy Trust, was awarded four grade 9s, two grade 8s, one grade 7 and two grade 6s.
In addition, 83% of Merstham Park students achieved a grade 4 or above in Art, and 78% a grade 5 or higher in Photography.
Our students also excelled in Science subjects, with 95% obtaining a grade 4 or above in both Chemistry and Physics, with 76% achieving a grade 5 or higher in Chemistry and 71% in Physics. In Biology, 90% of students were awarded a grade 4 or higher, and 76% a grade 5 or above.
Amongst the high achievers was Roshni Patel, whose grades included 9s in Science. “I felt really good, really happy,” said Roshni, who now plans to study A Levels at Reigate College. “We were made to feel special being the first year at the school.”
Isobel and Imogen Dearlove were also celebrating, with both taking up places to study A Levels at Reigate College.
“We both did well,” said Isobel. “I’ll be doing History, Geography and English Literature, and Imogen will be doing History, English Literature and Classics. I’ve really loved the community at Merstham Park. The teachers are really nice.”
Our Head of School, Andy Ward said: “This cohort of students have had many adversities to overcome in their secondary educational journey. I am delighted with what they have achieved and that they can now move on to their chosen post-16 routes at college or in apprenticeships."
“We have numerous students who have performed exceptionally well this summer. I would like to thank the hard work of all staff at Merstham Park School for their commitment and dedication in igniting our students’ passion for learning.”
