Remembrance Day at MPS
On Friday 11 November at 11.00 a.m., the whole of MPS gathered together as one, for the very first time, to honour the servicemen and women who gave their lives in combat for our country in the 2 World Wars of last Century, and also in more recent conflicts.
We heard words of peace and of the hope of peace, and our Art ambassadors laid a wreath of crocheted poppies as a sign that we have not forgotten the loss and sacrifice made by so many.
Mr Garner read a list of the names of the individuals who lived in Merstham who, called to arms by the needs of their country, lost their lives in the first, Second and Iraq wars.
Students read poems and our local hero Captain Tom Dempsey, who served in the Sussex regiment, joined us again and brought with him his banner, which is over 100 years old.
We will remember them.
