Remembrance Day at MPS 2021
At 11.00 a.m. on Thursday 11 November 2021, Merstham Park School students, staff and visitors came together to remember those who have died, fighting for our country, protecting and keeping us safe. Mr Garner read a long list of local residents who had fought in the wars and had lost their lives, including many from the same families. Our Head Boy Mason, and Head Girl Isobel, both read poems.
We were joined again by Captain Tom Dempsey who officiated and oversaw the minute’s silence and Captain Andy Wright who was the Standard Bearer.
After the service, members of the Art Club walked down to the Merstham War Memorial with Captains Wright and Dempsey, Mrs Harkness and Miss White to attach their poppies to the railings. This year, the Art Club made poppies out of wire and we are sure you will agree, they look spectacular.
